This is how strong we are in our core, it also goes beyond pure strength as one of the keys to maintain tension through our core is our ability to breathe whilst holding body tension. As such this section is split into various exercises that target the deep muscles in our core, rather than the more aesthetic abdominal muscles that give us a six-pack. We also look at how we can control that core whilst still being able to breathe.
The effects of a good core strength is that we can help transfer some power from our hands to our feet on slabs, or simply keep our feet in contact with the rock on steep rock. In terms of dynamic climbing the core is important to help us pull our feet back on if we ‘cut loose’ on a hard move.
